Friday 22nd January:

Go through your cupboards and fridge and call out different items that you need to buy from the shops, get your child to write the list
They can use their sound mat to help sound out the words they are writing, please don't worry if they use the wrong sound for example 'c' instead of 'k' or if they miss the middle or end sounds praise all efforts and post the writing on dojos.

Shuffle a pack of large 1-10 cards. Children put their hands behind their backs. Show a card, can they show this number of fingers. Repeat with each card, increasing the pace as theygain confidence. Can you catch anyone out or are they just too clever!

Write numbers between 1 and 10 on a 10 pieces of paper A4 size if possible. The children stand on a number and choose an action to carry out, that many times, e.g. jumping, hopping, clapping, star jumps.

Sing along with monkeys on the bed, use your fingers to count back.

Find some pictures of snakes look at the patterns on the snake. Draw along snake and a short snake give them an interesting pattern.

You and your child take turns to pick up two handfuls of cubes or lego or even screwed up paper or dried pasta, tip them onto the table. Without counting decide if there are more than 10 or fewer than 10. Count to check. Use the number on the washing line to see if it is before or after 10. Repeat this a few times. (Can you find the number to match the amount of objects you have thrown)

Rumble in the Jungle
Maths
Shuffle a pack of 1 to 10 cards. Ask a child to take one. They think of an animal sound and make this noise the number of times on the card. Can the adult guess which number. Now the adult picks a card and makes an animal sound can the child guess the number. Repeat x3.
Practice writing the numbers to 10.

You could make it fun by skipping, shouting, whispering or dancing! Maybe you could do funny voices or use sweets/toys to help you count back!

Time to get back outside!
Go on a walk and collect as many sticks/leaves/stones as you can.
When you get home, you can have a go at turning your collection into a picture of an animal - maybe a spiky stick hedgehog or a bird with leafy feathers?

Today, you will need your number cards (1-20) from your packs.
Put the cards into the correct order and then point to each number as you count out loud.

Junk modelling of animals seen on your walk.
Use objects you can find around your home to represent animals, birds and insects that you’ve seen.

Today I want you to use your number cards from your pack (1 to 10). Shuffle them up and put them in the right order.

After you have been on your walk, talk to someone at home and tell them all about the things you saw while in the park. You could even go again today (the weather is supposed to be lovely today!)
You should use words that describe where you saw each animal. Make sure to use full sentences! "I saw the bird on the tree."

Count them in and out backwards.

Go on a walk to the park or woods, if possible, and draw/write what animals/birds/insects you can see.
If you can. either use a book or go online and see what you can find out about the animals you saw on your walk.
